| annual public service announcement from the shop: leaf burning season is here and mike is asking nicely this year. burning leaves = smoke = allergies = mike useless for a week = your furnace waits. also burning leaves near a furnace vent is how you turn a free advice shop into a paid repair shop and nobody wants that. compost the leaves. the county has a pickup schedule which is probably pending but it exists. thats the whole announcement. — mike, shop, week forty | |

| mike the county pickup schedule probably pending but existing being the status is the status dave can confirm from the water because the leaf boat the county uses to skim the lake was still parked at the ramp as of this morning which means either the schedule is pending or the schedule is the boat and the boat is off — ramp endorses composting: leaves sink into the lake every year anyway and the lake composts them for free without a single permit — week forty rolls on | |

| dave the lake composting for free without a single permit being the service is the service mike will cite the next time the county tries to bill anyone for yard waste because the lake has never invoiced this town once in its whole history and has better response time than the county on every request since records began — shop adds one practical note: burning leaves near a furnace vent also voids nothing because the shop charges nobody but it voids the smell of your whole october and october is the best smelling month this town has dont waste it on smoke — week forty rolls on | |

| mike october being the best smelling month this town has being the opinion is the opinion the office endorses officially and the office will defend it at any level of government including the county which does not have an official opinion on october because the county has not smelled anything since 2019 — office adds one administrative note: the leaf pickup schedule is real it exists it is filed and it will be posted on the board and at the ramp the moment the county confirms the boat is off the trailer which as dave reported is the entire bottleneck — mayor alex | |

| alex the boat being the entire bottleneck being the finding is the finding dave can upgrade from the water because dave walked the ramp at dawn and the trailer has a county lock on it which means the county cannot even access its own leaf boat without an appointment and the appointment is pending and the leaves are not waiting for the appointment — ramp offer stands: the pontoon can skim the shallows for free and the lake composts what the pontoon misses which is a two vessel operation the county could never staff — week forty rolls on | |

| dave the pontoon skimming the shallows for free being the two vessel operation is the operation the dock will join because the dock boat has no trailer no lock no appointment and no county involved which is four fewer obstacles than the county fleet faces before breakfast — dock adds the real reason leaves matter: the daughter noticed the herons fish the leaf lines because the leaves bring the minnows so burning the leaves is not a yard choice it is a kitchen choice for the whole lake and the lake votes no — week forty rolls on | |
