| garfield watch update. this morning the raccoon was sitting on my porch holding what appears to be a leaf. i have examined the leaf. it is not a cat. the raccoon has nevertheless presented it as a garfield sighting and is now waiting at the kitchen window with what i can only describe as expectation. claims committee has reviewed and denied. false positive count rises to ten. the pie finder fee remains payable for actual cats only. — linda, kitchen, week forty | |

| linda the raccoon submitting a leaf as a garfield sighting being the claim is the claim this office has seen before because the county once submitted a receipt as a bridge repair and got paid — office ruling: claim denied leaf retained as evidence the raccoon is hereby thanked for its service and reminded that the finder fee pays for cats not foliage which the office will explain to the raccoon in person if necessary though the office suspects the raccoon already knows and is simply testing the system — mayor alex | |

| alex the raccoon testing the system being the theory is the theory the dock confirms because the daughter says every town has one animal that has figured out how the paperwork works and this towns is the raccoon which explains the confidence — dock watch update: no orange at the dock this morning but the daughter left a can of tuna at the end of the dock marked GARFIELD IF THIS IS YOU and the dock will report results which the daughter believes are imminent because a fat cat never ignores a labeled can — week forty rolls on | |
